6th Annual Summit of The Alliance of Community Churches

On Saturday, February 21, 2026, our St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) Helotes Conference organized the Sixth Annual Summit of The Alliance of Community Churches. This was an ecumenical Summit with attendees from the SVdP Helotes Conference, various area church members who support the work of SVdP, and business leaders in our community.

We were honored to partner with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which hosted the event. Attendees from local churches included clergy and/or staff from Zion Lutheran Church, Helotes Hills United Methodist Church, Bethel Covenant Assembly of God Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Forest Hills Presbyterian Church and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Guest speakers included Pastor Brad Pierson, Bishop Johnnie Davis, Meg Rulewicz and Brennen Ricks from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eric Cooper – President and CEO from the SA Food Bank, James and Shellie Malik – SVdP Helotes Food Pantry Managers, Ryan Loyd – Marketing Manager for SA Ready to Work, Sabrina McGowan – Council Member for the City of Helotes. The Master of Ceremonies was Catherine McCoy, SVdP Summit Chair and 2nd Vice President and Co-Chair Roxana Vargas, SVdP District Spiritual Advisor.

The purpose was to provide attendees with an update on our combined community impact, to be inspired by the Word of God, and to discuss future plans to serve our neighbors in need. It also allowed local leaders and clergy an opportunity to talk about future programs, services, critical issues, and trends that may impact or benefit the operation of our SVdP Helotes food pantry.

Unity, gratitude and collaboration were at the center of our Summit with prayers led by Bishop Johnnie Davis, Roxana Vargas, and Deacon Paul Williams from Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Helotes. The event was a huge success, and we are sincerely grateful for the participation of everyone who attended! We thank you for your continued support and prayers to assist our neighbors in need.

Together, we can harness the power of parish, community and partnerships to serve and feed individuals and families in our community who have nowhere else to turn for help.
