Home Visits

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Home visits are at the heart of what we do at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Helotes Conference. It’s where our essential elements of Spirituality, Friendship, and Service come together. They serve as unique opportunities that allow us to see and hear our neighbors more completely and always with confidentiality and dignity.

Through home visits, our compassionate volunteers establish person-to-person meaningful relationships with individuals and families in need who receive our friendship, help, and respect. Our volunteers are ready to listen without judgment and discover ways to help address our neighbors’ immediate and ongoing needs.

It was our patron, St. Vincent de Paul, who made the first home visits in 1617. We continue this tradition because, in his words, “You must see the face of Christ in your neighbor, and they must see the face of Christ in you.”

What to Expect from a Home Visit

When a neighbor in need contacts us, two of our compassionate and trained SVDP volunteers will schedule a visit to your home. Our volunteers will arrive ready to listen, care, and help. Whether you need food, financial assistance, or emotional or spiritual support, our home visit volunteers will listen and learn how they can best help you.
