Every Season is a Gift

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Helotes Conference, hosts several seasonal giving projects for our neighbors in need throughout the year. These special projects provide additional vital necessities and holiday meals to the individuals and families we serve in Helotes and Northwest San Antonio.

Pop-Up Food Distribution Events

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul partners with the San Antonio Food Bank for pop-up food distribution events at Kuentz Elementary School in Helotes. For those who attend these distributions, our volunteers put bags or boxes of groceries in their car trunks. Approximately 12,000-14,000 pounds of food are distributed at the pop-up events.

Box Fan Distribution

Project Cool is a program that provides free 20-inch box fans to senior citizens in an effort to provide heat relief and prevent heat-related illness during the hot summer months in Helotes and San Antonio. The program aims to provide free fans as low-cost, low-energy means to keep seniors cool without incurring high utility bills. Individuals who are 60 years of age or older, disabled, and receive services through our food pantry are eligible to participate in Project Cool. LEARN MORE

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Thanksgiving is a time to share our gratitude and joy with those who mean the most. St. Vincent de Paul Helotes distributes shopping lists with reusable H-E-B grocery bags for people to fill and drop off at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church to celebrate this holiday tradition. The filled bags include boxed and canned food, along with a $20 H-E-B gift card to prepare a delicious Thanksgiving meal. The Thanksgiving Food Drive bags are distributed to the neighbors in need we serve at our food pantry.

Christmas Gift Card Drive

This year, we’re collecting donations of preferred gift cards from H-E-B, Target, and Walmart in $25 denominations. Gift cards will allow our neighbors in need the opportunity to experience the joy of shopping for gifts for their families. The gift cards are distributed to the neighbors in need we serve at our food pantry.
